Scovill Oriental Gardens, Scovill Park

55 S. Country Club Road A Chinese fu dog guards the entrance to the Japanese-style garden in Scovill Park, originally part of the Scovill family estate.
Fairview Park

Fairview Park is 190 acres of greenspace devoted to family recreation. It's pavilions are host to many gatherings, and youngsters enjoy trying to lure the "big ones" from Dreamland Lake. Picnicking and playgrounds round out the fun Fairview is home to the annual Lantern Parade.
Fairview Tennis Complex The Fairview Tennis Complex is one of the best outdoor facilities in the state. A great variety of tennis programming is offered, and adults and children have the opportunity to participate in lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments and special events.
Project Playground at Scovill Park
71 S. Country Club Road Dedicated to all children, this wonderland of fun includes wooden towers, forts, slides, swings and places to climb, jump and tunnel.
Scovill Zoo at Scovill Park
71 S. Country Club Road Animals from around the world live as they would in the wild in this 10 acre zoo on a bluff overlooking Lake Decatur.
Anna Bethel Fisher Rock Garden at Nelson Park

This landmark overlooking Lake Decatur - a favorite spot for a quiet stroll far from the madding crowd - was built in 1927 and reopened in 1993 following a prize winning restoration.
Mari-Mann Herb Farm

Walk among the herb beds, everlasting flower beds, formal garden and the new fairy garden. Visit the Gingerbread House with its offering of the widest variety of herb products in the country.
Rock Springs Center for Environmental Discovery
3939 Nearing Lane Operated by the Macon County Conservation District, the 1,343-acre center is devoted to getting to know our environment first hand. Living History programs are offered in the Homestead Prairie Farm, a restored 19th-Century farm stead.
The Rock Springs/Fairview Bikeway
A 2.54 mile paved trail that links Fairview Park, Kiwanis Park and Rock Springs Center for Environmental Discovery
Lake Decatur Boating in Lake Decatur is allowed year-round with a permit. Boat ramps are located at Nelson Park, Faries Park, Lost Bridge Road, Country Club Road, and Rea's Bridge Road.
Sand Creek Recreation Area S. Franklin Bow hunting of deer by permit only, Nov. 2 - Dec. 29. Limited number of permits issued daily.
Rotary Park US Route 51 and Grove Includes five lighted softball/baseball diamonds, four lighted volleyball courts, handicapped accessible playground, concession stand, pavilion, and large parking area.
Decatur Indoor Sports Center 1295 W. Wood The DISC is owned and operated by the Decatur Park District and is located at Millikin University. It is the only facility of it's kind in central Illinois. The 87,000 square foot facility provides the community with a number of recreational opportunities.
YMCA
151 W. Prairie Members elsewhere with card can use all the facilities. Non-members pay a nominal daily fee.
Nelson Park Nelson Park overlooks Lake Decatur and offers many recreation activities, both on land and water. Private partnerships with miniature golf, batting facilities, and more provide additional services for family fun.

Golf
Nelson Park Golf Course A classic links course, built in 1916. It is a short hilly lake side course. Usually open year round, Nelson is the home of the Decatur's Junior Golf Program.
Hickory Point Golf Course
Hickory Point Golf Course is truly a course for the beginner and the competitive golfer. It's flat, wide fairways are perfect for learning, while long distances and ever - present wind provide challenge for more experienced golfers.
Scovill Golf Course Known as a "shot maker's course", Scovill's manicured fairways are hilly and tight. It's greens are undulating and surrounded by mounds.
Faries Park Golf Course


Faries Golf Course features a hilly front nine with lake views and a flat back nine. This course, designed by Roger Packard, has watered fairways and a driving range. The mature trees add character and beauty to this course.
Wildwood Golf Course

An executive par 3, Wildwood is great for the beginning player. It has several challenging holes and is good practice for the short game.
Indoor Golf Center at the DISC 1295 W. Wood Open from late November till March. Two simulators let you play any PGA championship course in the world.

Albert Taylor Theater at Millikin University 1184 W. Main This 300-seat proscenium theater, located in Shilling Hall on the Millikin University campus, provides the perfect venue for a variety of student theater and dance productions
Birks Museum at Millikin University 1184 W. Main Two sisters' love of the decorative arts gave birth to a sparkling spot of beauty on the campus of Millikin University, their alma mater.
Gallery 510 510 W. Decatur The Gallery 510 Arts Guild Ltd. is a not-for-profit group of 25 dedicated local artists who have united to encourage, promote and enhance the visual arts.
Kirkland Fine Arts Center at Millikin University 1184 W. Main Sparkling comedy, fascinating dance, and wonderful music and performances that appeal to the entire family are just a few of the spectacular features which are offered in the 2,000 seat Kirkland Fine Arts Center auditorium on the campus of Millikin University.
Kirkland Galleries, Kirkland Fine Arts Center at Millikin University 1184 W. Main Three galleries feature one-artist exhibits during the academic year. The Perkinson Gallery shows work by nationally known artists. The Lower Gallery's displays are often photography. Area and student artists display their works in the Studio Gallery.
Lincoln Square Theatre Theater productions, choirs, ballet troupes, high school groups and professional solo performers are just some of the many events held at this community theater.
Macon County Musuem Complex 5580 North Fork Road The Prairie Years and the Victorian Era in Central Illinois come to life in exhibits at the Macon County Historical Society Museum.
Millikin Homestead 125 N. Pine Banker James Millikin built this stately brick mansion in 1876, the year of the United States centennial. The fully restored landmark is known for its woodwork, elegant fireplaces, plasterwork and etched and stained glass.
Hieronymus Mueller Museum 61 S. Country Club Road You can't turn on your faucet, go roller skating, get a drink at a public fountain, or drive your car without thinking about Hieronymus Mueller...
Governor Oglesby Mansion 421 W. William Home of Richard J. Oglesby, U.S. senator and three-time governor of Illinois. Built in 1874, the Italianate home has Oglesby's original library and has been lovingly restored with wallpaper and furnishings of the Gilded Age.
Theater 7 at Decatur Civic Center 1 Gary K. Anderson Plaza Theater 7 is a not-for-profit community theater organization whose purpose is to foster an interest in theater through the presentation of live plays, musicals, and instructional workshops on various aspects of theater production.
Children's Museum of Illinois at Scovill Park
55 S. Country Club Road The Children's Museum of Illinois offers hands on exhibits focusing on people and cultures, the arts, physics/physical science, the ecosystem and health sciences.

Pumpkin Fest

Mardi Gras

Decatur-Macon County Fair


Macon County Fairgrounds A tradition for more than a century, the fair continues to bring together city and country, strictly for fun. Fairground. Gate admission is free.
Decatur Celebration

Jazz Festival
